Paisagens horizontais: junho 2016

Para quem vive acima do paralelo 60 N, as estações do ano tem outro tempo. O inverno dura em média 7 meses, a primavera e o outono, entre 2 a 3 semanas e o verão, com sorte 2 meses, 2 meses e meio.
For us who live above the 60N parallel, the seasons have a different timing. Winters last ...forever, actually around 7 months, spring and fall last between two and three weeks and summer around 2 or 2,5 months.

Então quando ele chega, precisamos celebrá-lo. Ontem à noite ele começou, o verão chegou em Yellowknife com toda a beleza de sua paisagem, uma tarde de 27 graus e um dia sem fim.
Este solstício foi mais especial, pois além de termos o sol da meia noite (uma noite sem escuridão) a lua cheia estava iluminando a já luminosa madrugada. Isto não acontecia a mais de 50 anos.
So, when summer arrives we need to celebrate it. And it has arrived, with all the landscape beauty that makes Yellowknife an amazing place. This afternoon we got 27 C.
This solstice was special, because in addition to the midnight sun, we got the full moon, and that has not been happening for more than 50 years.

Presenciar tudo isso faz valer estar tão longe de todos e suportar o inverno interminável. Não há muito a dizer. Desculpem-me pela qualidade das fotos, ainda estou sem minha câmera, as fotos foram tomadas com o telefone.

O monumento aos pilotos (uma colina pedregosa na cidade velha), foi o ponto de encontro para o solstício. The Pilot's Monument (a small high at old town), was the solstice hang out.
